Keys for a successful visit:

1. I try not to give boring or dull presentations. They make me cry.

2. Try not to give boring or dull presentations and cry in front of 200 children. It makes them cry, too.

3. If, by accident, 200 children get bored and cry, create a diversion and sneak out of building in janitor’s cart. Later, send invoice to school under the name of Lemony Snicket.

4. Use large silly props when at all possible.

5. Share joy and passion for writing and books with kids. If necessary, substitute a salami sandwich. (Note:  Salami sandwiches are good, but not as filling or nurturing as books. Nothing beats a good story on rye with a side of chips.)
